Belle of the Build

Denim is traditionally used for labor intensive and physically demanding jobs and not often thought of as something high end, much like the stereotype of the workers who wear it. Blue collar workers have always been looked down upon by many people, especially from the upper class because these people do the heavy and dirty work that most don’t want to do. Without these hard workers our lives would be drastically different . Blue collar workers are arguably the most vital pieces in our community because they lay the foundation for us to live a life in comfort

This piece is constructed almost entirely out of up-cycled jeans, most of which were once worn at countless jobsites during their prime. After transforming them to achieve various colors, I gave them a second life as part of something beautiful. This gown is a tribute to the blue collar workers who once wore them.
